WEB DESIGN// Web design built to rank and convert
We design and build websites that look premium, load fast and turn visitors into leads. Every project is custom, no templates, no shortcuts.
Websites built around what your business needs to do
From £1,250 one-offMost agency websites look great in the portfolio and underperform in the real world. The reason is usually that the brief started with aesthetics and worked backwards. We do it differently. Before a single pixel gets designed we spend time on the commercial brief: who is visiting, what would make them pick up the phone, and what does the site need to rank for to attract those visitors.
Every project is built from scratch. No templates, no page builders, no compromise on performance. Builds start at £1,250 for a five-page site. A full growth build with CMS, blog and SEO foundation is £5,000. Ecommerce on Shopify starts at £5,000. Prices are fixed at the quoting stage.
Open one and use it properly
A screenshot tells you almost nothing about a website. These open filling your whole screen, with no address bar and nothing of ours around them. Click through them properly, resize the window, see how they hold up. Press Escape to come back.
Casting lookbook
A talent agency site built as a working tool. Filter a roster by market, availability and measurements, open a full profile, build a casting board that survives a refresh, then send the shortlist as one qualified enquiry.
Streetwear drop page
A launch page built on Shopify. Live countdown, the garment shown at thread level, fit references and sizes with visible stock states. Shopify handles the commerce underneath.
We built this as a demonstration, not for a client. Every name, rate, measurement and photograph in it is invented. It is the same kind of build we would make for you, not a template.
What ships with every SearchSoda website
Not a pitch-deck feature list. A precise account of what gets built and handed over on every project.
Custom design, no templates
Unique design matched to your brand. We never use themes or builders. Every project starts from a blank canvas.
Fast and mobile-first at launch
Hand-coded with compressed images, deferred scripts and minified CSS. Optimised for Core Web Vitals from day one, not chased afterwards.
SEO foundation built in
Title tags, meta descriptions, schema markup, XML sitemap, robots.txt and Search Console connection. Standard, not extra.
Mobile-first on every screen
Tested on iOS and Android, Chrome, Safari and Firefox, from 375px wide. The starting point, not an afterthought.
SSL, security and backups
HTTPS configured, forms spam-protected, uptime monitored and regular backups taken. Security is infrastructure, not a bolt-on.
Admin panel you can use
Update text and images yourself. Built to your technical level, with a screen-recorded walkthrough at handover.
From brief to live in three stages
A fixed scope, a fixed price and a fixed delivery date. No surprises between kick-off and launch.
Scoping call and fixed quote
We spend an hour on your business and what the site needs to do commercially. That produces a written scope with a price and delivery date. No hourly rates, no vague estimates.
Full design before build starts
You see the homepage and a key interior page at pixel level before we write a line of code. Changes at this stage cost nothing.
Build, test, launch and handover
Testing covers every page, every form and every performance metric. Launch is coordinated to avoid downtime on existing sites. Handover includes documentation and a walkthrough.
From brief to live website: the typical timeline
Every project is different in scope but the process is consistent. No surprises, no scope creep, no disappearing for weeks and reappearing with something you did not ask for.
Brief, scope and fixed quote
We ask the right questions about your business, your customers and your goals. Scope agreed in writing, fixed price confirmed. No extras added later without your sign-off.
Designs presented for approval
Full design presented in the browser, not a static mockup. You see exactly what it will look like. Two rounds of revisions included before build begins.
Built on a staging environment
Development happens on a private staging URL. Every page built, all functionality tested, mobile and cross-browser QA completed before you are invited to review.
Your review and final amends
You review the staging site and provide feedback. Final amends made. Content, copy and imagery finalised. Sign-off given before anything goes near your live domain.
Launch, handover and training
Launch coordinated to minimise downtime. Analytics verified. Search Console connected. CMS training included on Advanced and Growth builds, so you can manage content yourself from day one with no dependency on us.
What a properly built website changes
Custom build versus template platforms
Templates work for validating an idea. For a business that needs to rank, convert and grow, the trade-offs compound quickly.
What makes the difference in practice
Fixed price, in writing
We quote before work starts and we honour it. If scope changes after sign-off, we tell you the cost before doing anything extra. No surprise invoices.
SEO built in, not sold separately
A lot of agencies hand over a site and suggest you hire someone to fix the technical SEO. We structure every page for search from the first line of code.
Built for conversions, not portfolios
We prioritise work that generates enquiries for your business. When that conflicts with what looks good in our portfolio, commercial performance wins.
Questions people ask us
What a professional website actually delivers
A website is your 24/7 salesperson. Here's what the numbers show about the return on a well-built site.
94% of first impressions are design-related. A dated or slow website loses clients before they read a single word.
57% of users abandon a page that takes more than 3 seconds to load. Speed is both a ranking factor and a conversion factor.
A professionally designed, SEO-optimised website converts 3× more visitors than a DIY site on average.
Your website generates enquiries while you sleep, at weekends and on bank holidays , no salesperson works those hours.

Why most business websites fail to convert visitors and what a properly built site does differently
The average business website converts between 1 and 3 percent of its visitors into leads or customers. The websites at the top of that range share characteristics that the ones at the bottom consistently lack: a clear value proposition that communicates what the business does and why it is the right choice within five seconds of landing, social proof in the form of reviews or case studies positioned where the visitor's attention is when they need reassurance, and a conversion path that makes it obvious what to do next at every stage of the page.
Speed is a conversion factor as well as an SEO factor. Google research found that a one-second delay in page load time reduces mobile conversions by 20 percent. A page that takes four seconds to load loses the majority of its potential visitors before they have seen any content. This is particularly acute for mobile visitors on cellular connections, who are now the majority of web traffic for most businesses. Every website we build is performance-optimised from the ground up, not as an afterthought.
The brief is where most web projects succeed or fail. A vague brief produces a website that the client approves as a design but that does not achieve the business objective it was supposed to serve. We run a structured discovery process before any design work begins that establishes what the website needs to achieve commercially, who the target visitor is, what that visitor needs to believe before they convert, and what objections need to be addressed to make conversion feel safe. The design emerges from those answers rather than from aesthetic preference.
SEO should be built into a website from the architecture stage, not retrofitted after launch. URL structure, heading hierarchy, page speed, mobile responsiveness, schema markup, canonical tags, internal linking structure and meta data all affect how well the site ranks. A website that is redesigned without SEO consideration built in from the start will typically experience a ranking decline after launch that takes months to recover. We integrate SEO requirements into every project from day one.
Our web design service is built for businesses across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh and throughout the country. Every project is fixed price with no hidden fees, and every site is delivered with full training so the client can manage content independently without ongoing dependency on us.
