When someone searches "dentist near me" or "plumber in Leeds" they are ready to contact someone. The businesses in the map pack capture most of those calls. Getting there and staying there requires consistent work across your Google Business Profile, your website's local signals, and your citation and review profile across the web.
Our local SEO service covers all three. We start with a detailed audit, fix what is broken, then build from a solid base every month. No minimum contract. First meaningful ranking improvements typically appear within six to ten weeks.
Everyone wants to be first. Almost nobody knows what third is worth.
Three businesses sit above everything else, and the drop-off between them is steeper than most owners expect. Drag the distance, add reviews, tick off the profile, and watch where you land. It also shows the uncomfortable part: proximity is the one factor you cannot buy, which is precisely why the things you can control have to be right.
Competitor names are invented and this is a model of how the pack behaves rather than Google’s algorithm, which is not published. The click shares are the widely reported shape of the drop-off, not measured figures for your trade. Treat it as an argument about where effort goes, not a forecast.

Not a retainer that looks busy on paper. Specific outputs every month.

Full optimisation and ongoing management: correct categories, service area, weekly posts, photo updates and review monitoring.
Citation building and cleanup
Audit and correction of your NAP data across directories and aggregators. New citation building on relevant local platforms.
Location page creation
Properly structured location pages with local schema markup and internal linking that signals geographic relevance to Google.
Review strategy
A systematic process embedded in your customer journey so reviews accumulate consistently, not just when you remember to ask.
Weekly rank tracking
Local keyword positions checked and recorded weekly, not monthly. We catch drops fast and respond before they cost you customers.
Monthly report
Plain-English report covering map pack rankings, GBP calls, direction requests, website clicks and what we did that month.
How we approach local SEO from month one
We fix what is broken before we build. That order matters.
Audit and opportunity map
Full audit of your GBP, local rankings, citations, reviews and website. Prioritised action list based on what will move rankings fastest. You see this before monthly work begins.
Fix, build and optimise
Month one is largely remedial: GBP rebuild, citation cleanup, schema markup, location pages and review process setup. From month two we build new authority on a solid foundation.
Monthly reporting and continued work
Monthly report covering positions and GBP metrics. Quarterly strategy review where we assess what is improving and adjust priorities.
The local SEO timeline: from invisible to inbox
Local SEO does not produce overnight results. But when it works, it becomes one of the most reliable lead sources a local business can have.
Audit, fix and optimise
Google Business Profile fully optimised. Technical issues on the website resolved. Local keyword research completed and target terms mapped to each page. Citations audited and inconsistencies corrected.
Reviews and map pack movement
Review generation programme running. Early movement in the local map pack for lower-competition terms. Search Console begins showing impression growth for local queries.
Map pack positions solidify
Consistent positions in the local 3-pack for primary service terms. Organic clicks from local search growing week on week. Enquiry volume from Google begins to increase noticeably.
Leads arriving consistently
Map pack and organic positions delivering regular enquiries. Review count and rating both improving. Phone calls and form completions attributable to local search growing month on month.
Authority builds, rankings hold
Strong local authority established. Rankings stable and resilient. New competitor activity has less impact because the authority base is solid. Unlike paid ads, this work does not stop when the budget does.
Why local SEO returns the best cost per lead
Local SEO versus paid local advertising
Both have a role. Understanding the difference helps you allocate budget more effectively.
Local SEO done without the fluff
Map pack first, everything else second
Map pack visibility converts at three to five times the rate of organic results. We prioritise getting you there above all other metrics and track rankings weekly.
Review strategy, not review requests
Asking customers once works once. Building the process into your customer journey works continuously.
Reports that connect to revenue
Calls, direction requests and website clicks from your GBP. Map pack positions for your target terms. Not sessions or impressions.
Questions people ask us
What actually determines your position in the Google Maps local pack
The Google local pack, the three business listings that appear above organic results for local searches, captures the majority of clicks for local commercial searches. Position one in the local pack consistently receives more clicks than position one in organic results for the same query. For any business serving customers in a specific geographic area, local pack visibility is the single most commercially valuable SEO outcome available.
Google's local ranking algorithm uses three primary signals: relevance (how closely does your business match what the searcher is looking for), distance (how far is your business from the searcher or the location they specified) and prominence (how well-known and well-regarded is your business based on information from across the web). You cannot control distance, but you have significant influence over both relevance and prominence.
Relevance is improved through completeness and precision in your Google Business Profile. The categories you select, the services you list, the keywords in your description and the content of your posts all signal to Google what searches your business is appropriate for. Most businesses are listed in one primary category when they should be listed in three to five, and most descriptions contain no keyword signals at all because they were written to describe the business rather than to tell Google what it does.
Prominence is built through the combination of review volume and quality, consistent NAP citations across the web, links from local and relevant websites and the overall authority of your website. Of these, review generation tends to produce the fastest and most measurable improvement in local rankings. A business that moves from 15 reviews at 4.2 to 60 reviews at 4.7 will typically see a meaningful improvement in local pack position within three to four months, with everything else held constant.
We provide local SEO services for businesses across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh and every major city and regional market. Initial ranking improvements are typically visible within four to eight weeks, with significant local pack movement usually following within three to four months.
