Technical SEO is everything that affects how search engines crawl, index and understand your website. A site with crawlability issues, slow page speed, duplicate content, broken internal linking or poor Core Web Vitals will not rank at its potential regardless of how good the content is or how many links it has.
Most websites we audit have three to five significant technical issues that are actively costing rankings. Some have been present for years without anyone identifying them. We run comprehensive audits, prioritise every issue by ranking impact and work through them systematically. Audits start at £1,250 with implementation included.
The technical SEO elements we assess on every site
A complete technical picture from crawlability to performance.
Crawlability and indexation
Robots.txt, XML sitemaps, noindex tags, crawl budget analysis and Search Console coverage review.
Core Web Vitals and page speed
LCP, CLS and FID measured and improved. PageSpeed Insights review and developer recommendations across mobile and desktop.
Internal linking audit
Internal link structure reviewed for orphan pages, crawl depth issues and authority distribution problems.
Duplicate content and canonicalisation
Duplicate pages, thin content, canonical tag issues and parameter handling identified and resolved.
Site architecture
URL structure, category hierarchy and breadcrumb implementation reviewed against best practice.
Schema markup implementation
Structured data audit and implementation: Organisation, Product, Article, FAQ and BreadcrumbList schema as appropriate.
From audit to implemented fixes
We find the problems, prioritise by impact and fix in order.
Full technical audit
Comprehensive crawl covering every technical factor. Issues documented, severity assessed and prioritised by ranking impact.
Implementation and fixes
Priority fixes implemented directly where we have access or provided as precise developer briefs where codebase access is required.
Verification and monitoring
Fixed issues verified in Search Console. Ongoing monthly monitoring to catch new issues as the site grows.
The technical SEO timeline: from audit to organic growth
Technical SEO sets the ceiling on everything else. Fix the foundations first and every other SEO investment works harder.
Full technical audit delivered
Every page crawled. Core Web Vitals measured. Crawlability, indexation, internal linking, duplicate content and schema all assessed. Issues documented, prioritised by ranking impact and handed over with implementation specifics.
Priority issues resolved
Highest-impact fixes implemented: crawl blocks removed, canonical tags corrected, page speed improved, duplicate content resolved. Every fix verified in Google Search Console after implementation.
Google re-crawls and re-indexes
Search Console shows coverage improving. Previously blocked or duplicate pages now indexing correctly. Core Web Vitals scores green across mobile and desktop. Rankings for suppressed pages begin recovering.
Rankings reflect the cleaner site
Pages that were ranking below their potential begin climbing. Organic impressions and clicks grow as Google gains confidence in the site structure. Traffic from previously suppressed pages returns.
Clean foundation, compounding growth
Technical health maintained through ongoing monitoring. New issues caught early before they suppress rankings. Every piece of content and link building now works on a solid foundation rather than fighting technical drag.
What fixing technical issues can do for organic performance
Technical SEO that fixes problems rather than just finding them
Implementation, not just recommendations
Most technical audits produce a long list and stop there. We implement the fixes, verify they worked and monitor for regression.
Prioritised by ranking impact
Not every technical issue affects rankings equally. We prioritise fixes by likely impact on organic performance.
Verified in Search Console
We check every fix against Google Search Console to confirm the issue is resolved as Google sees it.
Questions about technical SEO
The technical issues that most commonly hold good content back from the rankings it deserves
Technical SEO addresses the infrastructure on which content and link authority perform. A website with excellent content and strong backlinks but significant technical issues will consistently underperform its potential because Google cannot crawl, index or evaluate it efficiently. Technical problems do not typically prevent a site from ranking at all. They create a ceiling on how well it can rank and introduce instability into existing rankings when Google's crawlers encounter persistent errors.
Core Web Vitals are the most discussed technical SEO topic in recent years and for good reason: they are a confirmed Google ranking factor and they directly affect user experience in ways that are measurable and that correlate with conversion rate. Largest Contentful Paint (how quickly the main content loads), First Input Delay (how quickly the page responds to interaction) and Cumulative Layout Shift (how stable the page layout is as it loads) are the three metrics that Google measures and publishes for every indexed URL. Most websites fail at least one of these benchmarks, and many fail all three.
Crawl budget is a concern for larger websites but an overlooked one. Google's crawlers spend a limited amount of time crawling each domain per day. If a significant proportion of that crawl budget is spent on low-value pages (thin content, pagination, filtered URLs, session parameters) rather than on the content pages that matter for rankings, important pages are crawled less frequently and take longer to be indexed when new content is published or existing content is updated. Technical SEO work on crawl efficiency produces faster indexing and more stable rankings.
Schema markup is one of the most concrete technical SEO interventions available. Adding structured data to your pages, telling Google precisely what type of content each page contains, whether that is a product, a review, a FAQ, a recipe or a local business, directly improves the richness of how that page appears in search results. Rich snippets with star ratings, FAQ answers, pricing information and availability data consistently achieve higher click-through rates than plain blue links for equivalent ranking positions.
We provide technical SEO audits and ongoing technical SEO management for businesses across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and throughout the country.
